AEW’s message to new leadership team as contract tampering allegations emerge

Tony Khan and the AEW team has sent a warning over to WWE’s new leadership team to discuss potential contract tampering.

Before the August 24 episode of AEW Dynamite last night, Tony Khan held a meeting with his contracted wrestlers to speak about some of the issues going on within the promotion right now.

Over the last few months, there have been various reports of AEW wrestlers being unhappy with the communication within the company, with it even being stated in some reports that there’s a great deal of backstage unrest.

Also discussed in the meeting yesterday was a recent report which stated that WWE had reached out to a member of the AEW roster to gauge their interest in a potential return.

The report, for those that haven’t seen it, stated that higher-ups reached out to an unnamed ex-WWE Superstar, who now happens to wrestle for AEW, to ask if they’d be interested in returning.

In fact, it’s worth noting that there is some speculation circulating which suggests that WWE higher-ups weren’t even aware that the unnamed wrestler was working for Tony Khan’s promotion.

Nonetheless, it doesn’t seem like the AEW team was too impressed by the reports, with Khan bringing them up during the meeting last night.

After these allegations emerged, PWInsider reported that AEW’s Chief Legal Officer sent an email to co-WWE CEO’s Nick Khan and Stephanie McMahon to warn them off “tampering” with the talent, via WrestleTalk.

AEW’s Megha Parekh, the Chief Legal Officer for the company, who is effectively the #2 in the promotion’s hierarchy, sent an email to WWE’s Nick Khan and Stephanie McMahon warning them “not to tamper” with his talent.

This sentiment has also been corroborated by Fightful Select, who also have more information on last night’s meeting, which you can read more about by clicking here.

It’s worth noting that following Cody Rhodes‘ positive move from AEW to WWE, various reports have indicated that talent within AEW would be considering making the same jump.

Wrestlers picked up on how Cody was able to maintain much of his AEW presentation in WWE, and was booked as one of Vince McMahon’s top stars before his injury, making the move a more attractive prospect.

GiveMeSport, over the coming days and weeks, will look to keep you updated with more on the relationship between WWE and AEW, particularly as it pertains to the leadership changes within WWE.
