Ex-NXT star makes shock appearance on Raw

Johnny Gargano is back in WWE, returning during last night’s episode of Monday Night Raw.

Gargano became just the latest ex-WWE Superstar to return under Triple H, following in the footsteps of Dexter Lumis, Karrion Kross, Scarlett Bordeaux, Hit Row and Dakota Kai.

Many fans expected Johnny to be back in WWE, dating back to the expiration of his contract in December, but those chances greatly increased when Triple H became Head of Creative.

Given his close relationship with ‘The Game’, dating back to their time together in NXT, many fans thought that Johnny would be one of the first people that HHH called after getting the new job.

So, on last night’s Raw, Gargano was brought back to WWE, with his iconic ‘Rebel Heart’ music just hitting after the show came back from commercial break.

Johnny didn’t return with a big angle into a big storyline, but fans were just excited to see the former NXT Champion back on our screens, this time on the main roster.

During his promo, Johnny said that he is betting on himself, before adding that he’s just getting started, getting fans excited for what’s to come from him.

Gargano was then interrupted by Theory, his former stablemate from their time in The Way back in NXT.

Theory added that while he couldn’t have achieved anything in WWE without Johnny, he’d become the veteran while Gargano was now the rookie.

Theory and Gargano did the iconic ‘Way high five’, before Johnny blasted his former friend with a Superkick, presumably setting up a mouth-watering match between the two.

Another exciting avenue that Triple H could look to explore is the potential of a storyline between Johnny Gargano and his former tag team partner turned bitter rival, Ciampa.

Both men are on Raw right now, and given how closely they’ve worked with Triple H, are likely to be given huge pushes over the next few months.

It really wouldn’t be too surprising, given that he clearly knows that it works, to see Triple H work something together with both Ciampa and Gargano, this time on WWE’s main roster.

Gargano almost definitely won’t be the last WWE return, as reports state that Sasha Banks, Naomi and Bray Wyatt are also likely heading back to the company following Vince McMahon’s shock retirement.

You can watch WWE Raw live every single week in the US on the USA Network and over here in the UK on BT Sport.
