Kevin Owens’ tweet straight after was surely a dig

CM Punk is an incredibly polarising figure in the wrestling world, with a large following of devoted fans, however, The Cookie Monster is also despised by others.

The former WWE man has continued his career in a similar vein in AEW, being right at the top of the game despite creating more than his fair share of enemies on his way to the top.

He became a two-time AEW World Champion this weekend, putting his name right up there in the history books of Tony Khan’s promotion.

After his title win, the AEW All Out press conference was incredible viewing, with CM Punk kicking off with a belligerent tirade against the big hitters in the organisation and EVPs.

Understandably, his rant has gone viral, especially when you consider he made statements such as: “What did I ever do in this world to deserve an empty-headed f*****g dumb f**k like Hangman Adam Page to go out on national television and f*****g go into business for himself. What did I ever do? Didn’t do a Goddamn thing.”

MJF was also in the champion’s line of fire along with Colt Cabana, before delivering a message to the media present to be more responsible in their reporting.

As you can imagine, such a rant has had a split response, with those in the profession seemingly getting involved in the drama as well.

Kevin Owens of the WWE tweeted an image straight after the rant of him headlining WrestleMania, taking on legendary wrestler, Stone Cold Steve Austin in a great match which saw the Hall of Famer take the victory.

Despite not being the result he wanted whilst headlining WrestleMania, Kevin Owens has that over CM Punk. Although he was one of the biggest names for a number of years in the WWE, he never headlined the showpiece PPV event.

It’s no secret that The Cookie Monster was frustrated given he was never in the main event at Wrestlemania, claiming his match-up with The Undertaker at ‘Mania 29 was the real main event although it was the penultimate match on the night which was The Rock vs John Cena.

So, the timing of that tweet from Owens and the context behind it, you’d imagine it was a dig back at CM Punk for his verbal attack against friends of K.O.

He was in the stable with The Bucks and Adam Cole when in PWG and Kevin Owens remains friends with a handful of current AEW stars.
