Returning WWE star received incredible reception from fans on Raw

Johnny Gargano made his highly-anticipated WWE return during last night’s episode of Monday Night Raw.

Gargano wasn’t brought back in a big storyline as many people expected him to, but rather the former NXT Champion’s music just hit as the show came back from commercial break.

Johnny was then interrupted by Theory, his former stablemate from The Way in NXT, with the segment ended with Gargano laying him out with a Superkick.

Many fans expected Johnny to come back, pretty much since he left WWE in December, but the chances of that happening were made even more likely following Vince McMahon’s retirement.

Triple H took over from Vince McMahon as Head of Creative, and as a long-time favourite of ‘The Game’, many fans thought it was just a matter of time before Gargano returned to WWE.

Anyways, back to Gargano’s return last night, as the 35-year-old received one of the best pops of his career from the fans in attendance.

Last night’s show was held in Toronto, and the fans in attendance were pretty lively throughout the episode, but the return of Gargano generated arguably the loudest reaction of the night.

It did take fans a few moments to recognise Gargano’s old ‘Rebel Heart’ entrance theme, but once they did, they reacted really rather loudly for the returning star.

Toronto is known as one of the smarter wrestling crowds, so those in attendance likely knew Gargano from his time in NXT, and were elated to see the popular star back on their screens after nine months away.

You can listen to the pop above, which as already noted, was probably one of the loudest Johnny has received throughout his entire career.

Johnny is a favourite of Triple H, so really don’t be too surprised to see him in top feuds on WWE’s main roster now that ‘The Game’ is running things.

Gargano’s return also sets up a mouth-water reunion with his former tag team partner and bitter rival, Ciampa.

Ciampa is one of the WWE stars to have benefitted the most from Triple H’s appointment as Head of Creative, and now that Gargano is back too, many have speculated that they’ll be packaged together again before too long.
